Profile

Name: Julie Rose

Date of Birth: August 17 1984

Birthplace: Auckland, New Zealand (that's why I'm Kiwi Musume - NZers are called Kiwis.)

Current Location: Asahikawa, Japan. I've lived in Kyushu and now Hokkaido, but never on the mainland. XD

Current Job: Translator

How I got into Jpop: I was hanging out with these Japanese exchange students at my high school’s sports day, justifying my lack of activity with the fact that at least I was exercising my Japanese (which was still pretty basic then) and one of them ended up letting me have a listen to the CD she was playing in her discman (Morning Musume’s “Best! Morning Musume 1”, which to this day is still one of my favourites.) And the rest, as they say, is history. :D

You may remember me from such Jpop websites as: Megchan's Jpop Pages and Cori's Jpop Lyrics Homepage. I started submitting translations and things to Megchan’s site in late 2004 and doing the occasional translation or part translation for Cori’s site in early 2005, but after awhile I decided I'd done enough songs to branch out on my own, and so at 11:27pm on October 26 2005, Kiwi-Musume.com was born. :D

Current Favourite Japanese Artists: Passpo (I love flying and I love cheesy Japanese girlpop so this group was pretty much designed for me), Hello Project, the AKB artists, Johnnys artists (especially NYC), D Date, Ikimonogakari, Scandal, Juliet, Nishino Kana, B'z, Garnet Crow, Miwa, Spyair, Funky Monkey Babys, Flumpool, Alan, Choshinsei, Exile, Hamasaki Ayumi and Idoling!!! (or "Idoling!!!1!" as I like to call them. :P). I also really miss Lil'B, Aiuchi Rina, Bennie K and Ueto Aya, and I love a lot of older artists like Lindberg, Ooguro Maki, Pink Lady, Speed, WANDS (actually pretty much any of the guy artists who were on the Being label in the 90s), Pool Bit Boys, CoCo, Ushiroyubi Sasaregumi and Princess Princess, and a lot of the older stuff by BoA, Shimatani Hitomi, Aikawa Nanase, Tamaki Nami, Katou Miliyah, Jyongri and Aoyama Thelma.

Current Favourite English Artists: Not that many at the moment, but I really like Lady Gaga and the Backstreet Boys (their ballads are so beautiful!) I also really like a lot of the Eurovision songs.

Hobbies: Working on my website, exploring Hokkaido, watching Jdramas, reality shows and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic on my shiny new iPad, reading snark communities, cooking and being a Spandex-clad gym bunny to burn off what I've cooked.
